Tottenham Hotspur walked out of Anfield with the door of their Champions League hopes closing slowly, as Ange Postecoglou’s side tripped and fell flat on their faces at Anfield. The 4-2 scoreline does little justice to Liverpool as Spurs were abysmal on the afternoon. It was flattery, doing Spurs a kindness their overall performance did not merit. It must also not deceive anyone in the Spurs camp as the dramatic decline, in a season that held so much optimism at a point in the season, continues its sharp downward curve at a crucial point.
Chelsea produced a surprising, yet, impressive attacking performance to thrash West Ham 5-0, raising further questions about David Moyes’ future at the club. This week, the Hammers already opened talks with a couple managers, including Julen Lopetegui about taking over from Moyes when the Scot’s contract expires in June. Chelsea, who already look rejuvenated, were rampant as they racked up a second convincing home win in three days, scoring seven goals and conceding zero.
Mo Salah and Jurgen Klopp got into a heated argument on the touchline at London Stadium on Saturday afternoon. One source said “if I speak today there will be fire” after clashing with the gaffer on the touchline during Liverpool’s 2-2 draw at West Ham.

Leicester can now claim the Championship title on Monday with victory at Preston if third placed Ipswich fail to beat Hull City on Saturday.
Man United overcame an astonishing collapse to beat Coventry on penalties in an FA Cup classic on Sunday, setting up a second straight FA Cup final against Manchester City. Erik ten Hag’s men won the shootout at Wembley 4-2, with Rasmus Hojlund scoring the decisive spot kick after the teams were level at 3-3 after extratime. The game perfectly showed how terrible the season has been for Ten Hag’s men, who are well off the pace in the Premier League and had a Champions League campaign to forget.
German national team manager, Julian Nagelsmann has extended his contract by two additional years, taking him beyond the upcoming European Championship and 2026 World Cup. This new contract also rules out Nagelsmann returning to Bayern Munich, which is looking for a new coach for next season after deciding to part ways with Thomas Tuchel at the end of this season.
Andreas Christensen netted the late winner with his first touch after coming off the bench as Barcelona’s super subs inspired them to comeback 3-2 after conceding two in succession almost immediately after the second half kicked off to take control of their Champions League quarterfinal tie.
From banger goals and clever finishes to thrilling action and moments of sheer quality, Tuesday’s Champions League quarterfinal between Real Madrid and Manchester City simply had it all. After about 97 minutes of breathless action (plus added time from both halves), the first leg ended in a three all draw in Madrid’s Estadio Santiago Bernabéu, perfectly setting up the return leg on April 17.
