Messi tenders apology after PSG suspension

Lionel Messi has apologised to Paris Saint Germain for missing Monday’s training session, because he had travelled to Saudi Arabia to promote the country’s tourism industry. 

Messi, who was given a two week suspension, posted a message on social media saying he was on his way to Riyadh when players were told their day off had been cancelled. The 35-year-old, who has also been fined by the club, has a role as a tourism ambassador for Saudi Arabia. He was pictured in Riyadh on Monday and advertised his presence in the country on his social media.

Lampard to continue as Chelsea caretaker despite terrible start

rank Lampard will see out the season as Chelsea manager, sources told Blacks Sports Live. The club appointed Lampard interim manager until the summer on April 6, and that will remain the case despite their continued poor form.

The club’s process for a new permanent manager remains ongoing – with Mauricio Pochettino the current frontrunner – and the intention is for him to take over at the end of the season. It was reported earlier this week that a decision and an announcement on the next boss is anticipated within the next two weeks.
