Liverpool controversially lose to Spurs

The match between Tottenham and Liverpool on Saturday was a classic. After being reduced to nine players, Liverpool didn’t go down without a fight, until the end of the match saw Joel Matip concede a 96th minute own goal as Tottenham edged out a 2-1 win in a Premier League thriller to go second in the table above their rivals Arsenal. However, it all could have been different and Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp had already slammed “the most unfair circumstances, crazy decisions,” before referee body PGMOL officially apologised for Luis Diaz’s first-half strike being disallowed for offside.

Osimhen and Napoli at loggerheads over TikTok video

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen have turned against each other over the case of a TikTok video posted by the club’s official page. The Nigerian international is currently reserving “the right to take legal action” against the club for the video which was seemingly mocking the player. The odd video comes after Osimhen helped the Italian team secure their first Scudetto, in about thirty years.

Jennifer Hermoso files complaint over Rubiales’ kiss

Spanish midfielder and victim of the Women’s World Cup final scandal, Jennifer Hermoso, has filed a legal complaint against Spanish FA president, Luis Rubiales, over his unsolicited kiss during the World Cup celebrations. Rubiales kissed Hermoso on the lips after Spain’s World Cup final win, which she says was NOT consensual, however, Rubiales claims the kiss was “mutual and consensual”, but has been suspended by football’s world governing body, FIFA, till further notice.

Spanish football federation president Luis Rubiales has been subject to heavy criticism after allegedly kissing Women’s World Cup winning midfielder, Jennifer Hermoso on the lips during the trophy ceremony following the 1-0 victory over England on Sunday. The incident, which diverted much attention away from the players’ amazing achievement in the competition came as Hermoso and her teammates were receiving their medals from FIFA president, Gianni Infantino and Spain’s Queen, Letizia on the podium at the Accor Stadium.

Spain win the 2023 Women’s World Cup

After a tense and incredibly competitive game on Sunday, Spain ended up coming out on top in the 2023 Women’s World Cup final with a hard fought 1-0 victory over England at Stadium Australia in Sydney. The Spanish women national team won their first Women’s World Cup title after beating England courtesy of Olga Carmona’s first half goal, handing Sarina Weigman only her second loss since her appointment in 2021.
