Jimmy won the award however there is a strong case on whether Caleb Martin really deserved the Eastern Conference finals MVP Award. Jimmy Butler got 5 votes while Caleb Martin got 4. Caleb Martin was honestly the best player to watch in the series between Miami and Boston. Martin displayed great shooting intensity from beyond the arc which was terrific to see.
Why wasn’t he then offered the award? First and foremost, it is essential to recognize that Jimmy still deserves the recognition. The crux of the matter lies in Jimmy’s role as the leader of the Miami squad. His leadership has not only brought out the best in Martin but also in every role player on the team, including Max Strus, Duncan Robinson, and Gabe Vincent. Jimmy’s ability to inspire greatness among his teammates is a testament to his exceptional leadership qualities.
Additionally, in Game 6 against the Celtics, Jimmy showcased his reliability when it mattered most—making every crucial free throw. It is this clutch performance that draws comparisons to greats like Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant, who possess the coveted “Mamba Mentality.” This is a trait lacking in the Celtics team, as they failed to exhibit the relentless desire for victory in the face of adversity.
