I don’t know how many cousins Andrew Wiggins has but for him to be among the top five frontcourt fan All-Star voting getters – I’m perplexed. It seems like the whole of Canada is voting for Wiggins.
No hard feelings for Wiggins, but he has been out of the NBA injured for more than one month now. His regular season performance while on the court this season is 18.8 points per game. There are many players who did not make the list but are averaging more than 20 points per game.
The simple truth concerning the all-star game is that it’s going to be forever biased. Whether we like it or not.
The infuriating aspect of a biased voting system is when a fan feels his favorite player is not getting the entitlement he deserves they do whatever it takes in their power to feel like justice is now served to the detriments of the deserving All-Star starters that particular year.
The Front Court of the East is being hotly contested by four players: Kevin Durant, Giannis Antetokumpo, Joel Embiid, and Jayson Tatum. Only three of these players will be starters.
With the present votes, KD is definitely starting, and so is Giannis. There is a tie between Embiid and Tatum on who is going to start out in the East. It will absolutely be unfair on either of them if they do not start the game.
It’s also surprising that the only name from the Knicks that’s on the list is Derrick Rose. Derrick Rose is averaging 5.8 points per game, as a point guard. Probably some fans still think that Derrick Rose is still 22 and playing for the Bulls.
Julius Randle definitely deserves to be on this list- if anybody from the Knicks. In the last five games, Julius Randle is averaging 24.8 points per game. If it’s possible for the most improved player award to be given twice to a player, I’ll nominate Randle for it once again. The Knicks were Knocked out of Success sight for the entirety of last season. New York also still has a guy named RJ Barrett on the Knicks.
Some fans on Twitter have been criticizing Nic Claxton’s name being present among the All-star players in the East. Fans believe that players like Bam Adebayo are more deserving than Claxton on the list. As much as this is true, Claxton should not be scrubbed off his the list.
Claxton presently has the highest field goal percentage in the NBA, he is also topping the league in blocks while still averaging 11.9 points per game. These are actually All-star stats.
The Washington Wizards have Kuzma, but Bradley Beal also deserves to be on this list. I used to feel Bradley Beal had a large fan base. Below the Washington Wizards in the Eastern rankings are the Orlando Magic and the Charlotte Hornets. Two all-stars have emerged from these two teams. Although, one is more deserving than the other.
Lamelo Ball hasn’t done enough for the Hornets this season to be ranked above the Pacer’s Tyrese Haliburton and Cav’s Darius Garland. Although he averages 23.1 points per game, his points aren’t necessarily helping his team in winning. Paolo Banchero on the other hand is the favorite for rookie of the year and his presence on the floor is the most essential key to Orlando’s success in recent games.
Names like Brook Lopez, Jalen Brunson, and Zach Levine are also great omissions from the list. Apart from this, I’m fine with the east.
The West is the worst though!
First of all, why are six players from The Golden State Warriors on the All-star list?
It should be no wonder that it is stated The Golden State Warriors have currently the greatest fanbase in the NBA.
Who in Heavens is Austin Reeves?
The West is annoying to announce first round fan voting for All-star starters without the presence of players like the Sacramento Kings Domantas Sabonis(This guy is leading the Sacramento Kings with a broken finger) and DeAaron Fox- who is also playing his Career best for the Kings. CJ McCollum of the New Orleans Pelicans also deserves his credit this season, he is an amazing Pelican player.
Portland’s Jerami Grant is also worthy to be in the all-star conversation. The West really needs to be restructured concerning the All-star game.
Notwithstanding, the All-star Starter process is 50% based on fans the rest will be dissipated among Media, and players. However, Fans should do better justice while voting.
