Zion Williamson on his quest for greatness.

By T.A. December 16, 2022

Zion Williamson reminds me of nobody but Michael Jordan.  “He’s probably more explosive than when I was,” NBA legend Shaq said. ”He’s playing great, doing what he is supposed to do. It’s not questionable to say that if Zion Williamson is completely healthy for the next two seasons, Shaquille O’Neal won’t be a worthy comparison to Zion.” It’s high time we quit the comparisons- Zion is just Zion. The brother is different!

First of all, Zion is a monster in the paint. Minnesota Timberwolves guard D’Angelo Russell was so frustrated by the brute force of Zion he made this comment after his team got smoked by Zion’s Pelicans:” He’s playing football, we are playing Basketball, we can’t touch him or guard him.” Those are the agitations of a player when you try to guard a 6 feet 6  284 pound forward with agility like a point guard on the court.

Zion, unlike many big men in the league, has uniquely adapted to playing both within the Arc and outside the Arc. There is a great contrast between Zion’s size and what he does on the court. For a guy with Zion’s size, this is very rare.

This is the 3-point shooting percentage for the top big guys in the league for the last 5 games. Zion’s shooting percentage is at a high of 66.7%. Even though he is a big man, Zion Williamson can shoot well outside the arc. This is of great advantage to him compared to other post players. When players such as Giannis Antetokounmpo resort to using brute force to drive to the basket instead of relying on their technical abilities or game plan, it may indicate that they are struggling to make a meaningful impact on the game.

Zion seems to have none of these problems. Zion decides to play bully ball when he likes. He is suitable as both a power forward and a center.

Zion Williamson has a lot of critics to prove wrong. If Zion took anything personally, it was the media response to his injury/health status for the entirety of last season.

Zion’s best highlight this season was against the phoenix suns. The 360 windmill dunk carried a lot of emotions, agitation, and wrath.

If Zion was healthy during the playoffs, Phoenix may not have found it easier to defeat the Pelicans in the 2022 playoffs.

How the Media feels about Zion presently

Zion’s weight has been a problem for the media even until now. Zion was injured both in body and soul last season. “The part that really messed me up was how my family got affected…” Zion said- in a special interview.”What the media was trying to do to me and with the narrative they are trying to paint.” The pain Zion went through was really an awakening for him to prove the league wrong concerning the picture they have painted in the mind of fans.

How the Media felt about Zion last season

We all thought Zion was back for good this season, and yes he was, but recently Zion will once again have to miss time due to his hamstring strain during a game against the 76ers.

After the discovery of the injury Media outlets and sports networks brought up the topic of his weight again. If it was Lebron who had a hamstring injury, will everyone blame it on his weight?

Zion will be reexamined in the next two weeks, if he doesn’t get injured again, and the Pelicans are beyond Playoffs worthy. Apart from Zion, the best player to watch on the pelicans is Brandon Ingram. Brandon Ingram is worth every penny of the contract extension he signed with the pelicans in 2020.

The New Orleans Pelicans are a great team. Although only “The Messiah” can speed up their ascension to winning their very first championship.

The Messiah wasn’t Chris Paul, neither was Anthony Davis.

Zion is the Pelicans Messiah!
